FTP Information

FTP stands for file transfer protocol.  To add web pages to your website, you will need to FTP to your directory at Cagelink Computer Services.  Once your pages are on our server, they can be displayed on the internet.  There are various means by which you can FTP to your website home directory. You can use one of many programs, (WS_FTP, CuteFTP, etc.)  or you can use the FTP command that may be built into your version of Microsoft Windows.  Many of the FTP programs have additional tutorials to help you with their specific product.

To FTP to your website you must enter the following information:

Host:  www.cagelink.com
User:  your Cagelink username
Password:  your Cagelink password
Both the username and password must always be put in all lower case letters.

Also, if you are using WS_FTP or other FTP software programs you will need to enter your virtual directory on our web server which is always /your username. For example if my username is JSmith, the virtual directory would be /jsmith.

The default start up page on your home directory should always be named "index.html" (without the quotes).
